Each year the Nebraska Choral Directors association honors three choral music educators/directors/conductors from Nebraska for their outstanding achievement and dedication to choral music in the state of Nebraska.
Mark Harmon (OCD) & Thomas Young (OYCD)
The Outstanding Young Choral Director and Outstanding Director Awards are given to Nebraska educators, based on their years of experience, who have consistent ACDA/NCDA membership, maintain high performance and literature standards, participate in ACDA/NCDA activities through attendance and leadership, and promote choral music in the community. Possible recipients must be nominated.
The Cornell Runestad Award is to be given to a deserving choral director in Nebraska. It is to honor those professionals who have made the commitment to singers in Nebraska through choirs under their direction. These conductors have spent a significant portion of their careers in the State of Nebraska. They may have worked with choirs of any level or variety. The inspiration of their artistry has touched many lives, and has set the bar for the many directors who follow in their paths. In short, they have left a legacy. Possible recipients must be nominated.
The NCDA Board has decided to recognize career milestones each year at the Summer Conference Banquet. We will recognize years of service beginning at 10 years and every five years after that. The following conference attendees have identified themselves as being at career milestones. Those with 10 to 25 years of experience will receive a certificate. Those with 30 or more years will receive a certificate and plaque (in the mail) from the NCDA Board congratulating them on their years of service and dedication.
