2012 North Central ACDA Conference
It's never too early to plan for the next North Central ACDA Conference Feb 8th - 11th in Madison, Wisconsin! This page is a quick overview of the 2012 Conference Beyond the Notes. For more information visit the NC ACDA Choralnet Page.
This conference is designed to help ACDA members "go deeper" in engaging choir members to sing more artistically, with greater independence, understanding, and commitment in the rehearsal process.
Performance Venue
All performance will take place in the Overture Center for the Arts. This stunning architectural landmark in the heart of Madison’s thriving cultural arts district is an acoustical marvel. Singers and listeners will love this performance space!
Audition Information
Interested in submitting your choir for consideration as a featured choir during the conference? The deadline for submitting auditions is May 1st. All North Central ACDA members will receive the application form and complete information in the first week of March.
Honor Choirs
Information about each Honor Choir featured at the 2012 Conference is below. Click the link to find out more information about auditions and the conductors. Complete information and application forms will be sent to all members in April. The deadline for submission is October 1st.

- High School SATB (grades 9-12)

- Collegiate Repertoire Choir
Students selected for this choir will be based on teacher recommendations. It will feature five conductors who will rehearse 15 pieces with choral music education majors on Sat, Feb. 11th.

Clinicians will include the honor choir conductors, plus:

Evening Concerts
Evening concerts will include performances by:
- Kansas City Chorale; Charles Bruffy, conductor
- Clerestory (an ensemble of Chanticleer alumni)
- Czech Boys Choir and Young Men's Ensemble; Jakub Martinec and Jennifer Beynon Martinec, conductors
As well as a performance of "To Be Certain of the Dawn" by Stephen Paulus, libretto by Michael Dennis Browne, presented by singers from throughout the division.
Immersion Day
Wednesday, Feb 8th is Immersion Day where the theme will be "Bel canto music literacy". It is a day focused on the sequential teaching of music literacy, with special emphasis on the development of tone and expressiveness, as well as a high level of engagement on the part of the students. The day will feature clinicians John Armstrong and Kristin Zaryski, with assistance from the Dallas Center-Grimes (IA) High School Concert Choir; Natalie McDonald, conductor.
